Thea Jaworski (she/they) is a freelance performance artist, somatic movement facilitator, co-director and choreographer of Slavic-Canadian descent based in Ute / Cheyenne / Arapaho territories (Denver, Colorado). TJ’s lifetime exploration of movement has included such modalities as collective composition, release technique, rhythm tap, jazz fundamentals, aerial forms, functional anatomy, immersive theatre, meditation, yoga and improvisation. Their most resonant teachers and mentors include Gene Medler, Eileen Juric, Martha Nichols, Leah Wilks, and Peter Chu among many other noteworthy shapemakers and sculptors of change. Her creations and offerings have taken place in various spaces including University of Boulder, Colorado Ballet, Denver School of the Arts, American Dance Festival, Duke University, and North Carolina State University. At home in Denver, TJ is the Co-Director of the Courageous Space - a dance and yoga and collective offering socially-conscious and liberatory movement practices, mindfulness education and expansive somatic experiences. The Courageous Space houses two programs of which TJ is both the Founder and Director: the Young Artists Mentorship, through which she coaches and creates with pre-professional dancers, and coCreate, an all-ages dance collective and movement laboratory.
